How effective are collaborative divorce services for peaceful separation?

I have recently started exploring collaborative divorce services as an alternative to the traditional divorce process, and I am trying to understand if this approach is truly as beneficial as it sounds. From what I have read so far, collaborative divorce services focus on cooperation rather than conflict, which seems like a healthier option, especially when children are involved.

However, I still have several questions before deciding if this is the right path. How successful are collaborative divorce services in actually avoiding court? Do both parties need to be fully committed for this process to work, or can it still be effective if one side is more difficult to deal with?

Another thing I am curious about is cost. Are collaborative divorce services generally more affordable than traditional litigation, or do expenses end up being similar once everything is considered? I am also wondering about the timeline. Does this method typically resolve matters faster, or can it drag on just like a regular divorce?

For those who have gone through this process, what was your experience like in terms of communication and stress levels? Did you feel that your interests were fairly represented throughout?

I am really interested in hearing honest opinions, both positive and negative, so I can make a well informed decision moving forward.
