Using prednisone for sinus infection while managing relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) can be tricky. While prednisone is effective in reducing inflammation associated with sinus infections, it can also impact the course of MS. Prednisone is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, making it a go-to medication for many types of infections and inflammatory conditions. However, for those of us dealing with RRMS, the immune system’s response to prednisone can be a cause for concern. On one hand, it can help reduce sinus inflammation, leading to quicker relief. On the other hand, there's a fear that it might influence the disease course or exacerbate symptoms. Some RRMS patients have reported feeling more fatigued or experiencing an increase in neurological symptoms after taking prednisone. It's also important to discuss with your neurologist how prednisone might interact with other MS medications you’re taking. Have others in this community used prednisone for sinus infection while managing their MS? What was your experience, and how did it affect your overall MS management? Sharing our experiences can help us better navigate this complex interaction between treating infections and managing MS.
