Can dropshipping stay low-maintenance?

A lot of people hear that the supplier ships everything and assume the owner just collects the difference. That skips over all the work between opening the store and reaching steady sales. You can read more about whether dropshipping can actually bring in passive income here https://easync.io/articles/dropshipping-passive-income/ . Don’t judge the idea by screenshots from one strong sales week or claims that the store will run while you sleep. Go in expecting a busy start and the chance to earn back some of that time later.

The supplier handles storage and shipping, but that only removes the warehouse side of the business. You still have to choose products, test ads, watch margins, answer customers, and react when a supplier changes stock or prices. Treat the first few months as active work and use that period to figure out which products and processes are reliable. After that, order routing, inventory updates, repricing, and tracking can be automated, which can cut the weekly workload. A mature store can become semi-passive, but it won’t turn into income that needs zero attention.

I’ve been trying to find a way to add some income on top of my regular job, but I don’t have the time to build another full-time job after hours. Dropshipping caught my attention because the supplier holds the products and ships the orders, so at least I wouldn’t spend every evening packing boxes. The problem is that every explanation online seems to swing between easy money and total failure. Can a dropshipping store eventually bring in passive income, or does it still need someone watching it every day?
