Hey all, I’m working on a smart home project with a small team, and we’re finally getting close to a beta release. We’ve built a few different devices—some are voice-activated, others use mobile app control—but we’ve hit this point where we really need to focus on quality assurance.
I’ve been reading up on smart home device QA, especially how crucial it is to catch issues around connectivity, interoperability, and user experience before the product hits the market. Found a site that breaks it down well (this one) and it made me realize how much we might be overlooking when it comes to real-world testing scenarios. Things like Wi-Fi interruptions, different smart hub compatibilities, and edge cases in voice commands.
So now I’m wondering—how do other devs or teams approach QA for smart home tech? Do you do everything in-house, or bring in outside testers? Have you ever launched something and had unexpected bugs pop up even after a solid QA phase?
Would love to hear about any real experiences (good or bad) with smart home QA. Thanks in advance!
