My ultimate goal was to break into that exclusive list and, more importantly, to earn the rewarding camo for finishing in the Top 250 by the end of the season.

But the grind to get there wasn’t all smooth sailing. I had to make every match count and strategize my way through intense lobbies filled with players just as hungry for that top spot. To make things more interesting, I decided to give myself additional goals for the day: to win with each SMG in Ranked Play, from worst to best. This would not only help me warm up for tougher matches but also give me the experience of mastering a variety of weapons under pressure.

The SMG Challenge: Worst to Best

I started the day by using the PP 919, a weapon that many players consider one of the weakest in Ranked Play. It’s not the best SMG out there, but sometimes playing with what seems like a disadvantage can teach you new ways to approach the game. To add to the challenge, I moved on to the Compact 92, then the C9, and finally, the best in my lineup, the Jackal PDW. Each weapon had its own quirks and strengths, and winning with all of them was no small feat.

First Stop: PP 919

The PP 919 was a tricky one. It lacked the raw power of the other SMGs, so my team and I had to play smart, using positioning and strategy to make up for its weaker stats. The match was more intense than expected, but it ended with a victory and 20 SR in my pocket. That’s when I knew this grind was going to be no joke.

Second Stop: Compact 92

Next up was the Compact 92, a weapon that doesn’t quite match the high speed and range of the better SMGs in the game. But the challenge here was to work with what I had and make every shot count. This weapon didn’t impress me much, and I had to face a top 50 team of stacked players. It was clear that the Compact 92 was not my weapon of choice, and it ended up costing me 25 SR, but that’s part of the journey—learning from the losses.

Third Stop: C9 SMG

The C9 was next in line, and it was a massive upgrade compared to the previous two. With better accuracy and a solid fire rate, this SMG gave me much more confidence in my plays. I breezed through the lobby, racking up kills and holding control of key points. After a strong performance, it felt like I was back on track.

Final Stop: Jackal PDW

Finally, the Jackal PDW—the reigning champion of the SMG category in Black Ops 6. This weapon combined everything I needed: range, speed, and recoil control. I felt unstoppable using it, and with the Jackal PDW in hand, I ended up helping my team secure crucial victories. The matches were intense, but with a combination of good positioning and solid teamwork, we managed to finish strong.

The Road to Top 50

After completing my SMG challenge, the grind didn’t stop there. My rank was fluctuating, but my goal was clear: Top 50. With each game, I kept pushing forward, whether I was winning, losing, or facing off against tough opponents. The Top 250 list was changing rapidly, and I knew I had to stay focused.

By staying consistent and playing strategically, I managed to rack up SR and close the gap. The breakthrough came when I earned a 20-win streak and finally broke into the Top 50. That feeling of accomplishment, knowing all the hard work had paid off, was priceless.

I started with the goal of getting into the Top 250 and eventually made it into the Top 50 with a solid 20-win streak. The grind was tough, but with the right mindset, strategy, and a bit of luck, it’s absolutely achievable.
