The first models of cardboard buildings were created in 1952. Since 1958, the company was headed by his son Rudolf Auhagen, under whose leadership the production was actively developing and in 1970 the production of plastic products began. In 1972, the company was nationalized, the company became part of the state association for the production of toys of the GDR VEB Modellspielwaren Marienberg-Hattengrund and was named MAMOS.

In 1980, the company was merged with the VEB VERO Olbernhau plant (products were manufactured under the VERO brand). In 1990, the company was denationalized, and in 1993 it changed its name to AUHAGEN, the company turned into a family business. Now the AUHAGEN company produces a large range of various products, both under its own brand and for other companies. AUHAGEN occupies a leading position in the segment of "budget" models of buildings and accessories for railways.
